Itinerary

  • Arrive at your launch location; sign in with your trip leader and collect your gear.
  • Launch just prior to sunset and paddle to a great spot to enjoy an incredible Florida Sunset in the coolness of the afternoon.
  • Then, enjoy another ninety minutes or so paddling with some incredible bioluminescent organisms. It's always different and you never really know what creatures you'll encounter or which of several paths you will take. Dolphins and Manatees are regulars, and so are Stingrays and Horseshoe Crabs. There are lots of birds during the early evening hours, including Owls and Night Herons.
  • Finish up about two hours after launch, check in your gear, and say farewell to your guides.

What to Wear - This is a night tour, so pass on the hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. But you will need:

  • Clothes that you don't mind get a little wet
  • In warm weather - swimsuit/board shorts & T-shirt
  • In cool weather - same as warm, add a nylon (not cotton) cover-up
  • Shoes - preferably full sandals or Crocs that can be worn in the water
  • Layering is good for the winter months, a warm afternoon can quickly become a cool night

What to Bring

  • Bug repellent
  • Camera & a dry bag to keep it safe (these are fairly useless to capture bioluminescence, but great for capturing people)
  • Bottled water & snacks
  • Towel - must be left in the car (please remember to lock it & your valuables in the trunk)
  • Any special personal paddling gear is optional
  • While the use of lights is discouraged, you may bring a flashlight -- to keep eyes adjusted to the dark and not disturb other guests, a safety light will be provided

  • To stretch those muscles a little
